Le Havre economic center point benefits from the international logistic influence of its port but it also takes advantage of a high-quality communication multimodal network allowing quick and easy access to the whole European market.

At the crossroads of motorways A131 and A29, the Le Havre region is provided with a reliable, fluid and recently-built motorway network, far from the traffic congestions of Northern Europe.

Motorway A131 allows you to get to the Paris region in only 1.5 hour and offers direct connection to Eastern France and Europe.
Moreover, Le Havre is at the center of motorway A29, the Estuary Route linking Copenhagen to Lisbon and allowing easy access to South European main markets and to North European business centers.

Logisticians ! From Le Havre, you can drive anywhere in Europe and reach your destination in 1 or 2 days!

Passenger traffic

Thanks to 13 daily shuttles linking Le Havre to Paris (Saint-Lazare), you can reach the French capital in only two hours.. TGV (Very Fast Train) daily services to Lyon and Marseilles.

Freight traffic

The main national and European rail-freight operators place the whole of Europe within your reach, with more than a hundred daily trains allowing to reach any European destination in 1 or 2 days!

The Quality Net, CNC Compagnie Nouvelle de Conteneurs (New Company of Containers) and Novatrans services propose more than a hundred destinations via their European terminal networks dedicated to goods, whether they are containerized, in bulk or transported by rail and road.

Le Havre port community, listening to its customers and anxious to provide the best quality of service, has organized a range of national services through direct shuttles, and has created the Le Havre Shuttle (LHS) company.

By 2010, the major investments linked to Port 2000 should make it possible to double the handling capacity and traffic of container combined transport. Finally, the Paris region bypass plan is under progress and on completion, should allow the implementation of direct links to the East of France and Europe.

In full expansion, the Le Havre river transport network benefits from the presence of quality infrastructures and efficient operators ensuring regular services with the Paris region.

The container river traffic is undergoing a particularly rapid expansion with a significant increase in frequency of services via the logistic platforms of Gennevilliers, Bonneuil sur Marne and Nogent sur Seine.

Large projects associating the port of Le Havre, port of Rouen and port of Paris Authorities, in collaboration with the VNF (French Waterways), foresee, among other things, the expansion of this network. Finally, the future river connection to the container terminals of Port 2000 should further enhance the efficiency and dynamism of the Le Havre river network.

Le Havre-Octeville airport proposes a large range of European and international destinations via the Lyons hub.

Completing the worlwide influence of the Port of Le Havre transcontinental maritime services, a short-sea network including 13 regular “domestic” services enables to reach 20 major European destinations (ro/ro, feeder and cross-channel ferries traffic).

Regular cross-channel services, three per day, link Le Havre and Portsmouth (United Kingdom) via spacious and comfortable ferries.

Le Havre benefits from a comprehensive and reliable network of public transport managed by the Connex company which extends to the whole agglomeration and economic territory.

Urban services are provided by Bus Océane, the Le Havre subsidiary, which serves Le Havre and its Agglomeration Community with a regularity and scheduling which best meet the requirements of employees and companies.
